THE AIRBAG SRS CONTROL UNIT FAILED. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT NOTIFIED US OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE UNIT; THE TOTAL COST WAS $666.95. THE CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD AND MANY OWNERS WOULD NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE UNIT. NO WARRANTY COVERAGE EXTENDS TO SAFETY EQUIPMENT AS A LENGTHY TEN YEAR WARRANTY COVERS POLLUTION SYSTEMS. 1) ABS SYSTEM: THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I HAVE ADDED BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESEVOIR, ALTHOUGH THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM ONLY TEMPORARILY. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAIRLY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR. 2) AIR CONDITIONER: THE AC MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE, WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VIBRATION BEING FELT QUITE STRONGLY WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE PROBLEM DIMINSHES WHEN THE REAR AC IS TURNED OFF, AND DISSIPATES COMPLETELY WHEN THE AC AS A WHOLE IS SHUT DOWN.*AK
