IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING MY 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY ON A BUSY STREET, MY CAR EXPERIENCED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. WE HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO PULL IT OFF FROM THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE SERVICE SHOP ADVISED ME THAT IT WILL COST OVER $1000 TO FIX THE FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT IN LATER MODEL YEARS, BUT TO DATE, NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT DOES AFFECT ALL 2004 CAMRYS. MY CAR ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

IT WAS RETIGHTEND. I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL PARTS ON MY REAR VIEW MIRRORS. THEY ARE ALL OPPOSITES. UP IS DOWN RIGHT IS LEFT ETC. I HAD GOTTEN A VEHICLE CAR FACTS ON THE CAR AND ONLY ONE OWNER AND REAR ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED. ALSO I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY FRONT TWO TIRES WITHIN A WEEK OF PURCHASE AND IT MAKES A SCRAPING NOISE WHENEVER THE CAR IS IN MOTION. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING IN MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2001 ON I 75 S FROM ROYAL OAK TO DETROIT, MI AROUND 2:30 AM ON SEPTEMBER 6TH 2009 ,WHEN SUDDENLY I HEARD SOME CRACKING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND FIRE FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I WAS TRAVELING AT AROUND 70 MILES/HR AND TRIED TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO WARDS THE SHOULDER AND POWER STEERING FAILED AND I SAW ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING, THEN TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND BRAKES FAILED. I QUICKLY USED HAND BRAKE AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. I QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS LOCKED. I QUICKLY PULLED BOTH THE KNOBS SIMULTANEOUSLY AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND CALLED 911. BY THE TIME FIRE ENGINE CAME TO THE SCENE, THE CAR WAS ON HUGE FIRE. MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE ANY MAJOR ISSUES IN THE PAST. I DID CHANGE TIMING BELT AS PER THE COMPANY GUIDELINES AND AT AUTHORIZED DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. I CHANGED THE TIRES 2 MONTHS AGO AND OIL CHANGE 1 AND HALF MONTH AGO. NEITHER COPS NOR ME COULD COME TO A CONCLUSION ON WHAT WENT WRONG. I AM LETTING YOU KNOW AS IT MAY HELP TO INCREASE THE SAFETY OF CARS IF YOU INVESTIGATE MY CAR. I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. *TR

13V442000 · Air Bags; Electrical System; Equipment:appliance:air Conditioner

Oct 17, 2013

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Avalon, Avalon HV, Venza, Camry, and Camry HV vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. An inadvertent airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury or the possibility of a crash. An inoperative airbag can increase the risk of injury in a severe crash. The power steering assist could also become inoperable resulting in increased steering effort and can increase the risk of a crash at low speeds.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will seal the air conditioning condenser unit housing and install a protective cover on the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

SUMMARY: TOYOTA RECOVERED SOME FAILED IGNITION CONTROL MODULES FROM THEFIELD. INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT A SOLDER JOINT IN THE POWER TRANSISTOROF THE MODULE WAS SUBJECT TO FAILURE. BECAUSE THE PART IS AN EMISSIONRELATED COMPONENT A VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS CONDUCTED.THE PREDOMINANT MODE OF FAILURE IS AN INABILITY TO START THE ENGINE,ALTHOUGH A STALLED CONDITION CAN OCCUR WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.SINCE THE REPORTED OCCURENCE OF ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IS SMALL, AND THEREPAIR IS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN, THELIKLEHOOD OF FURTHER ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IS REMOTE.===
