I was on the highway the first time and I going between 60 and 65 mph and it sounded like the whole bottom of the truck was just ripped out, the truck went from drive to either park or first gear it locked up the back tires and there was a truck behind me he tried to miss me but he hit the back passenger side of the truck. He was very very upset he threatening and cussing me because he thought I just slammed on my brakes for no reason. I explained to him what was happening and calmed down think God. It could have killed him or me or even several other people. When it locked up the tires then it jumped back in drive and tried tot take off, I threw it in neutral and cut the key off. That scared the sh.. out of me!! I have talked to other people that have around the same year model truck as mine and some of them are having the same issues with it jumping in and out of gear not wanting to shift gears revving up on its own and no engine light comes on I've tried to get a code scanner scan it no codes come up on the truck Ford needs to fix this truck they had a recall on certain models that were manufactured at different plants or something like that I heard but they won't fix my truck they said it's not under recall this truck is going to kill somebody it's the only truck I have and I have to go to work I'm just asking if you can please do something about this before people get killed in or I get killed I'm going to try to get a video of what it does I'm just asking if you can please do something about this Ford knows what the problem is I read stuff on it and they need to fix these trucks before it kills people they know what the problem is if I have a bad wreck and I live to it or this truck causing somebody to lose their life it's going to be a multi multi multi million dollar lawsuit because they refuse to fix the truck I'm just asking you if you can please do something about this thank you

Metal corrosion on the back liftgate is allowing water to leech into the electrical connections to the back camera, causing it to intermittently not work leading to complete failure eventually. The service techs at the ford dealership have described this common problem with this year model expeditions and is due to a chemical problem either with the metal or factory paint or both. Corrosion is not due to rust. We bought the car new in late 2011.

I WAS INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC COLLISION TODAY, MAY 15, 2015, GOING SOUTHBOUND THE SPEED OF 45MPH ON A CITY STREET IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA CA. ANOTHER CAR GOING WESTBOUND DIDN'T WAIT AT STOP SIGN, WENT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND TURNED WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING HER BUT WE COLLIDED, I WAS SPUN AROUND, SHE ENDED UP IN THE FRONT YARD THE HOUSE ON THE CORNER. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE HIT THE FRONT FENDER AND FRONT DOOR OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE. ONLY 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN MY VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER SIDE, WITH NO PASSENGER SITTING THERE. MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL OTHER AIRBAGS THAT DID NOT DEPLOY, EVEN THOUGH THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS SMASHED. ALSO, THE ONE AIRBAG THAT DID DEPLOY CAUGHT ON FIRE, AND FILLED THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK WITH A BURNING WHITE SMOKE, NOT POWDER. IT WAS A VERY STRONG BURNING SMELL THAT I INHALED A LOT OF. NOT SURE WHY ONLY THE ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND ALL THE OTHERS DIDN'T??? PLEASE HELP ME IN GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS. SHOULD OTHER VEHICLES LIKE MINE BE RECALLED? I HAVE TO SAY, ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT SEVERELY INJURED, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY BETTER IF MY SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM WOULD HAVE WORKED THE WAY IT WAS INTENDED. HAVE THERE BEEN OTHER INSTANCES LIKE MINE? WHAT SHOULD FORD MOTOR COMPANY DO FOR ME? WHAT DO I DO NEXT? PLEASE HELP ME. THANK YOU, [XXX] ## VIN PASSED ## FORD, EXPEDITION, 2012 ## INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED. THE PAINT ON THE TAILGATE OF MY TRUCK HAS BUBBLED UP IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS AND STARTED TO PEEL. AFTER TALKING TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER, THEY STATED THAT IT'S A COSMETIC PROBLEM, NOT COVERED BY THE CORROSION WARRANTY. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I HAVE REALIZED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I OWNED A SIMILAR MAKE AND MODEL THAT WAS 9 YEARS OLDER AND THOUGHT IT WAS A LIMITED ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE, BUT REFUSE TO COVER IT. THE BODY SHOP I CONTACTED RECOMMENDED FOLLOWING UP ON THIS BECAUSE IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO PAINT NOT BEING APPLIED TO THE ALUMINUM CORRECTLY DURING PRODUCTION.

PAINT IS BUBBLING ON TAILGATE. COMMON PROBLEM. FORD DEALER KNOWS ABOUT IT, FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT. FORD WILL NOT REPAIR AS THERE IS NO METAL PERFORATION. ALUMINUM TAILGATE IS CORRODING UNDER PAINT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A 3 -4 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.

Official recalls
3Apr 27, 2016
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks, 2012 Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Mustang vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unexpected downshift into first gear can cause the vehicle to slow down suddenly without warning and the rear tires may slide or lock, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on September 19, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S19.

FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 FORD F-150, 2012 EXPEDITION AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR, AND 2012-2013 MUSTANG VEHICLES, FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NOS. 102, "TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK, AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT" AND 108 LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR (TRS) THAT WAS CALIBRATED OUT OF SPECIFICATION FOR REVERSE GEAR.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THIS CONDITION EXISTS, THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT GO INTO REVERSE OR WHEN THE DRIVER PUSHES THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE REVERSE R POSITION AND THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION DOES GO IN REVERSE, THE R MAY NOT ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD OF THE F-150, EXPEDITION, OR NAVIGATOR MODELS AND/OR THE BACKUP LAMP ON THE REAR OF THE F-150, EXPEDITION, NAVIGATOR, OR MUSTANG VEHICLES MAY NOT ILLUMINATE. THESE CONDITIONS INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH OR A PEDESTRIAN BEING STRUCK DUE TO THE VEHICLES NOT SIGNALING IT IS IN REVERSE.
Remedy: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE TRS AS NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 11, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened an investigation based on consumer allegations of transmissions unexpectedly downshifting to a lower gear without input from the driver on model year (MY) 2011-2013 Ford F-150, Expedition and Navigator vehicles. ODI has received 455 unique reports related to the alleged problem that were not covered under a previous recall for this issue (16V-248).Expedition and Navigator complaint rates are lower than F-150 complaints. Of those 455 reports, 34.7% claimed that the rear wheels locked up when the transmission downshifted. There were 4 accident claims with no injuries. There are many instances where drivers report leaving their lane or the road because of this issue. In response to ODI's Information Request (IR) letter, Ford Motor Company (Ford) responded with 783 unique reports related to the alleged problem. There were 6 accident claims with 3 injuries. Ford also submitted 1206 warranty claims related to transmission downshifting failures. The failure can occur at any time, but typically at higher speed, and include symptoms such as sudden transmission downshifting, loss of speedometer, erratic shifting of transmission, and transmission stuck in one gear. The failures typically occur without warning and may result in the rear wheels momentarily locking up. The driver often had to fully stop the vehicle and restart it to get the vehicle to shift properly. On February 2nd, 2019 Ford notified ODI that it would conduct a safety recall (19V-075) to remedy transmission downshifting failures on all 2011-2013 F-150 vehicles. Ford will also offer extended warranties to 2011-2013 Expedition and Navigator vehicles with the same issue. Per Ford, some vehicles may experience an intermittent loss of Transmission Output Speed Sensor (OSS) signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), potentially resulting in a temporary unintended downshift into first gear. Ford will reprogram the PCM with software that will prevent an unintended downshift into first gear and illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light in the event of an intermittent OSS signal loss. The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks of concern to ODI.Accordingly, the investigation is closed. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the identification (ODI) numbers found in the attached list.
