2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Brand new 2026 Camry is swaying left and right when driving on concrete roads at 40 mph and above. It was felt like I lost steering control; the whole car felt like it’s “floating” or weaving. Steering truly is difficult to control, specially on wet conditions. this Vehicle is equipped with factory 19” wheels with wide, low profile tires with low aspect ratio and short sidewalls; Bridgestone turanza tires 235/40/r19. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer saying this is known as tramlining. Vehicle was inspected by manufacturer several times. There’s no any warning lamps or messages or other symptoms of the problem. It appears that inappropriate tires were installed on this vehicle by manufacturer, which leads to a loss of steering control.

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH, the contact attempted to activate the cruise control mode system for the first time since purchasing the vehicle. The system failed to activate, and a message indicating that the cruise control was not activated was displayed. The contact attempted to activate the system a second time, and the vehicle significantly accelerated, the steering wheel and brake pedal locked up, causing the vehicle to crash through the garage door of a house and into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. The vehicle automatically connected to Toyota Safety Connect, and the contact requested the assistance of police officers. There was property damage. The garage door, the front, and the rear end of the other vehicle were damaged. The contact sustained abrasion on the right arm from the air bag, and abrasion on the lower left leg. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The vehicle was then towed to a collision repair shop, where it was totaled by the insurance company. The vehicle was then towed to Coparts. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The insurance company had given the manufacturer authorization to access the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

I purchased a Toyota camry 2026 on January 5th 2026. After a week of driving the vehicle. I noticed it was sliding around & having a hard time stopping on my way home from work. One night going up a hill. I had to stop at a red light. When it turned green I tried to proceed. The tires just spun out I couldn't go any further. I had to turn around & go a different way. It's was only cold out no snow on the ground yet. A couple days later in the burger King drive thru. I had my son in the car. I was going less than 10mph. The vehicle wouldn't stop at the speaker. I ended up sliding into the speaker. It scared my son & myself. I attempted to contact Toyota about the issue. They told me if I wanted more aggressive winter tires. Then I should buy some. It's not about wanting winter tires I told them. It's about my safety, the safety of my family & the safety of other drivers on the road. They claim the OEM tires are all season tires. They are definitely not all season tires made for anyone that lives up north. I've never ever had an issue with a brand new vehicle driving in the winter with OEM tires until this Toyota. They refused to address the issue. I've also contacted the tire manufacturer. Even though they never sold the tires to me living in Connecticut in the winter. It was Toyota that decided these tires were ok to put on the vehicle & sell in any region of the USA. I had to purchase new England all season tires. Which cost quite a lot. I'd I had known I had to buy brand new tires for a 33,000$ vehicle. I either would have worked that into the cost of the vehicle. Or I wouldn't have purchased the vehicle. The salesman never told me the tires are a safety liability in Connecticut during the winter. Which is when I purchased the vehicle. The OEM tires that came with the camry cannot be driven in cold weather. I even offered to bring the car in to the dealership so they could put different tires on the vehicle that would be safe.
