I am filing this complaint regarding a premature material failure on my 2024 Toyota Tundra. The factory-applied smoked overlay finish on the front grille is peeling and separating in large chunks, exposing the chrome underneath. This is occurring at approximately 46,000 miles and less than two years of ownership. This is not normal wear and tear, fading, or minor cosmetic deterioration. The finish is physically delaminating from the grille surface, which appears to indicate a defect in the manufacturing or application process of the factory-installed material. The vehicle has been properly maintained, has not been modified, and has not been subjected to misuse or environmental damage beyond normal driving conditions. Toyota and the dealership denied coverage, citing mileage limitations and categorizing the issue as cosmetic wear despite the obvious premature failure of the factory finish.

The vehicle while parked and not running on our driveway burst into flames and had large fire and explosions that burned the vehicle front half completely. the whole engine compartment burned and melted and destroyed the vehicle. No warning lights, no issues. Just burst into flames and destroyed the vehicle.

The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud.

Toyota placed a tinted coating over its chrome on the platinum trim. The coating is pealing off. My vehicle is garaged and has 6,200 gentle miles on it. The coating appears to be bubbling, so there is an issue with it. When at the dealership getting the warranty claim addressed, I saw their own 'parts truck' of same year and trim as mine also was pealing and I pointed it out to them. Doing further research, I've seen multiple online forum images of others experiencing the issue. It appears Toyota's solution is to replace the grill/bumper chrome with the same material, so I fear it will only happen again. The fix is pending.

Plastic molding on rear driver’s door came loose, and I had to push it back on. Door panels(driver’s door and rear passenger) make rattling noises while driving. Oil leak from under vehicle near drain pan.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Tundra vehicles equipped with a V35A engine. Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause a main bearing to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will perform an inspection on the #1 main bearing using vehicle inspection software and drive data, and if necessary, replace the engine. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed July 23, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB14 and 25TA14. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall numbers 24V381 and 25V767.
